Silent Partners (2001)  The inspiration for this piece came from an article I wrote for Scientific American. The article was about the discovery of the first ever binary Kuiper-belt object (KBO) — giant balls of rock and ice beyond Neptune. All Kuiper-belt objects discovered before 2001 were single, but now at last some are being found with partners.
