Once Upon a Time on the Earth (2010)  This is an artistic impression of the Earth as it might have appeared 3.3 billion years ago. This was towards the end of the so-called period of heavy bombardment, during which the planets were continually subjected to gigantic impacts by chunks of debris left over from the formation of the Solar System. The Moon was much closer to the Earth at this epoch.
