Galactic Core
This picture shows a view, looking towards the galactic core, seen from the vantage point of a
close-in Earth-like planet. This is not a safe environment for such a planet. Jets of highly
energetic particles spew from the galactic core. In addition, stars are so close to one another that
when one ends its life in a supernova, the radiation from such an event could easily contaminate any
planets in neighbouring star systems.
