Stellar New Born
A supernova explosion viewed from space
Stellar New Born
A supernova is the end-point for a single star, but the origin for others. The matter expelled by a supernova replenishes the interstellar medium from which stars are born. All it takes is the shock waves from such an explosion to trigger the compression of a cloud of interstellar gas and dust, and gravity does the rest.
