The message is simple here, I think. The blobby bit at the top of the splash is supposed to be a certain planet. This image appeared on the cover of the December 1999 issue of the British SF magazine Noesis. I found out many years after making this picture that something very similar had been used on the cover of the excellent album Time by the Electric Light Orchestra.
