My name is Mark A. Garlick, and I am a
freelance illustrator and author, specialising in space, earth sciences, science fiction and technology. A Fellow of the International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA), I came into the space art business with a scientific background — a doctorate in astrophysics — in late 1996. Since then I have written and illustrated five of my own books, and my images have appeared in their hundreds in other books, publications and in advertising.
This website showcases more than 140 of my space artworks. Some were done traditionally (e.g. with acrylic or gouache), but most nowadays are rendered digitally in Photoshop using a graphics tablet, with the occasional use of 3D programs. I don't only do astronomical art. Go to markgarlick.com if you want to see what else I can do, including science fiction, macabre, dinosaurs, earth sciences and other images. You will also find details of the books I have written. Commissions welcomed. For more about me and my methods, see my FAQs. |
