Super Earth (2007)

This is Gliese 581 c, one of three planets orbiting the star Gliese 581. Gliese 581 c has garnered much attention because it is very small compared to virtually all other known exoplanets to date, at only 1.5 times the radius of the Earth and five times its mass. It has been dubbed a "super Earth". Its orbital period is a mere 12.9 days and it orbits the star, a red dwarf, at just 0.073 AU — 14 times closer in than the Earth is to the Sun.
