Birth of the Solar System (2002)

What you see here is an impression of our Solar System forming, from the initial supernova that started the contraction of a gas cloud. As the cloud collapses and spins, it gets flatter. Soon, pieces of material in the disc begin to lump together (accrete) to make ever larger bits that will one day form planets. See also Dust and Rubble.
