A binary dwarf planet is what Pluto and its moon Charon together comprise. Pluto, recently demoted to the status of dwarf planet, is only about twice the size of its moon, seen here in the top left corner. Compared to virtually all other planets, this is exceptional. Only Earth comes close to matching this ratio, being four times larger than the Moon.
