About "Meteorite Origins"
This infographic attempts to explain the origin of meteorites on the surface of the Earth. Meteorites are fragments of rocky bodies in the Solar System — either from planets or from asteroids. In this depiction, two asteroids in the main belt between Mars and Jupiter collide, starting a series of events that eventually end with a meteorite landing on Earth. Equally, some meteorites can come from a giant impact with a planet such as Mars, which blasts into space debris that subsequently makes its way to Earth. Some meteorites have on Earth definitely support this idea. Of course, ours is not the only planet to receive this visitors from space. Other worlds can and do experience period rains of meteorites from all over the Solar System.Details
